A little bit about what it was like writing my Literature Review essay!

There were different building blocks that helped me prepare to write my essay. The first building block was the Big 3 Annotations. This was a crucial step in helping me prepare because I was able to read through all by sources and get a good understanding of them. By doing this, I had the hard part of the writing done and I just had to put my findings together into an essay. Another building block that helped me out was the annotated bibliographies. This helped me summarize the methods, results, and conclusions part of my essay. By writing about those things in my annotated bibliographies, I was better able to write about them again in my essay. Finally, the last building block activity that benefited me greatly was the Twitter tweets about my species. By tweeting about my species, I found some great sources that I could later use in my essay. I also learned more about my species in general, giving me a better understanding of sharks!
After going through the minimum requirements rubric, I am pretty confident my essay meets the objectives. The objectives I think I met in an effective way are having a captivating introductions, summarizing the three main studies in the body paragraphs, incorporating more than 6 sources and having good sources, an organized essay, and a good works cited page. My introduction marks off all the necessary elements as it introduces that this essay is a literary review on the social behavior of sharks and includes the history of shark resource. Additionally, it is captivating and encourages the reader to continue reading. I also feel that I summarized my Big 3 sources pretty well. I covered everything that was asked for, including the studies' methods, results, conclusions, importance, and connections. My essay includes more than 6 sources that I feel I have incorporated throughout my essay effectively. Overall, I feel that my essay is well organized and connected, with a well created works cited page that contains all my sources. The objectives I think I can still work on and improve are scholarly ethos and language and grammar. I think the these elements can be improved upon and re-checked with a fresh pair of eyes.
For my Social Media Campaign, I have found some issues that I hope to address. These issues include: shark finning, overfishing, and habitat destruction. I already have done some basic research on these issues. Shark finning is when people cut off the fins of sharks and throw them back into the water alive. They then sell these fins for their own gain. Overfishing is a poor fishing process that often traps sharks, killing them. Finally, habitat destruction is caused by the pollution we added to our oceans, taking away from the homes of our sharks. One organization that I have been looking at is Oceana. They have a campaign called "Save the Last Sharks", focused on raising both awareness and money for these threatened species.
I hope you were able to learn about my Literature Review writing process and my plans for the Social Media Campaign!
All the best,
Pallavi Rajeev
