Another update on my Twitter account, half way through the quarter!

This week on Twitter, I focused on my research species: sharks! I tweeted all about sharks, shared information I learned from the research I have already done on this topic, and found interesting videos, articles, and other content. I tried to tweet a variety of media because in the prior weeks I would tweet a lot of articles. This time I made sure to find videos, infographics, and articles that my followers would enjoy. The most interesting thing I learned and tweeted about this week was about shark teeth. Sharks lose their teeth very frequently, but they never run out of teeth because they have multiple rows of them. I also followed some more accounts this week. Although I tried to look into accounts that would be beneficial for my research, I also wanted to follow accounts that promoted animal advocacy and shared information about animal related issues. One of my favorite accounts I discovered this week was @OceaniaSharks. This account tweets and retweets a lot about shark conservation. The account also shares interesting information from events that they’ve held regarding the understanding and conservation of sharks. Another account many of you may find interesting is @wildearthguard. This account does a great job of spreading awareness on issues revolving around our environment and the wildlife in our environment. If you get the chance, definitely check these accounts out and give them a follow!
Aside from Twitter, I also responded to some of my classmates’ blogs. This week I responded to Caitlin, Gavin, and Rayna. In Caitlin’s blog I read about her Twitter experience. She shared the interest she had in the tweets of our classmates, which I could relate to. I definitely agree that there have been a lot of good articles, tweets, and videos under the “39canimals” hashtag. I also read about the Twitter experiences of Gavin and Rayna. One thing I found interesting in Gavin’s blog was what he learned on Twitter about the Oregon Wolves. He shared how the Oregon Wolves are declining in population due to human factors such as poaching. This was definitely disappointing to read about, but not an issue I had heard about yet. In Rayna’s blog, she shared an account to check out: @dodo. This account is targeted towards people who are interested in animals. I was able to find some good content on this account after following it. They share adorable animal pictures and videos! When replying to these blogs, I had some clarification questions. I wanted to learn more specifics about some of the topics shared, and talked about this in my response.
I hope you were able to learn about what I did on my Twitter account this week and read about the blogs I responded to!
All the best,
Pallavi Rajeev
