Some more updates on my Twitter account and some notes on the annotated bibliography I reviewed!

To start off, I want to share my favorite post I tweeted from this week as pictured above! This is a tweet that has an informational article on the electric sense sharks have. The article is a quick but great read that you guys can check out at this link: https://www.americanscientist.org/article/the-discovery-of-the-sharks-electric-sense.
The reason I chose to include this tweet as my best one of the week is because of the really fun graphic that comes along with the informational article. I think adding a fun graphic along with a scholarly article that informs readers on important shark matters is a great way to capture the attention of my followers. I want my followers to actually check out the articles I am tweeting about and using a graphic to first capture their attention is a great way to go about that. This week I also followed some new Twitter accounts that related to sharks, social behavior, and animal advocacy. One account that was great for my research is @ElasmoBryan. This is the account of Bryan Keller, a researcher who studies the social behavior of sharks -the same topic I am currently researching. Although Keller doesn't post often, the tweets he has are very informational. Another interesting account I followed is David Jacoby's Twitter: @DJacoby_Marine. This is one of my favorite accounts because he is the lead researcher on one of my Big 3 research study sources! Jacoby tweets some reading material to check out about sharks and re-tweets interesting graphics on marine life. I also saw some great tweets this week which I re-tweeted and shared with my followers. Some of my favorite tweets that I came across were about tagged sharks. I saw a tweet about a hammerhead shark being tagged and studied from 180 days as well as tagged White Shark Breton who is being tracked around the archipelago in Bermuda. It is super interesting to come across these tweets that give updates on tagged sharks! Finally, I did some hashtag surfing this week. I tried to look at specific hashtags that would benefit me and my research. I started off basic and looked at #sharks. This hashtag had many informational tweets about sharks, but not so many on the social behavior of sharks. I tried to get more specific and looked at the posts under #sharksocialbehavior and #socialbehaviorofsharks, but there were no tweets under that hashtag. However, #sharkscience was a good one for finding some informational tweets on sharks. This hashtag had a lot of tweets on studies done on sharks and papers written about sharks.
Aside from Twitter, I also checked out the annotated bibliographies of my classmates. I commented on Rachel's page and gave her some feedback on her bibliographies. Rachel's Big 3 were about the social behavior of giraffes. The sources addressed the social capabilities of giraffes, how the social life of giraffes are impacted and influenced, and differences in the social behavior of giraffes based off of their environment and whether they are wild or held at zoos. Something I think Rachel did really well was summarizing the three sources. I was able to get a good picture of the main idea of each of the sources. Additionally, Rachel did a great job visually. Her "Research Agenda" page was visually captivating and it included great images of giraffes. I think the best piece of advice I gave Rachel was about the type of sources she should find, since not all of her sources were research studies. I also informed her that she might want to consider adding more specific details regarding the methods, results, and conclusions.
I hope you were able to find some interesting hashtags and accounts to check out on Twitter this week!
All the best,
Pallavi Rajeev
